HEALTH & NUTRITION OF OUR PRECIOUS PUPPIES
HEALTH: Here at The Sheepadoodle Shack, we make every effort to ensure that our families are adopting a puppy that comes to them having been thoroughly examined and vaccinated by our wonderful Vet Clinic. We take our dogs and all of our litters to the much trusted and very highly recommended Veterinary Clinic of the Mineral Area! They take our litters from 3 days old and examine them and dock tails and remove dew claws. Then when our precious babies are 6 weeks of age, we take them in to our AWESOME DR. JILL JACKSON, where in she thoroughly examines each puppy from head to toe and vaccinates them. We give the puppies the very best start possible. Their fecal is tested and if it is negative there is no worm medicines given. It is not necessary to give a baby a potent medication unless it is needed. There are many breeders out there that self vaccinate and worm their puppies from the time they are just a week old and continue that process until they are 6 weeks of age...THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT NECESSARY...IT IS LIKE GIVING POISON TO A PUPPY THAT DOES NOT NEED IT...THERE IS NO REASON TO TREAT A PUPPY WITH A STRONG MEDICATION FOR SOMETHING THEY DO NOT HAVE! Once our puppies pass their first exam and get their first vaccines by Dr. Jill, any subsequent vaccines (if we still have them) are purchased from our vet clinic and I self administer them. I am a Certified Surgical Technologist and work in surgery every day. I am qualified to give injections....so there are no worries there. The puppies are then only taken back to the clinic if they are going to be shipped as they require by law a full examination again in order for Dr. Jill to write them a required Health Certificate to travel via air. We feed our puppies one of the very BEST FOODS ON THE MARKET ...."ROYAL CANIN #32 MED PUPPY"....this allows our puppies to get off to an excellent start nutritionally. This food is specially formulated for breeders who care about the nutritional value of their dogs and puppies. It can also be found at retail stores, such as, PetSmart, Petco, and various feed stores that are allowed to sell this wonderful brand! ONLY THE BEST FOR T-RAYS SHEEPADOODLE SHACK PUPPIES....we also feed our expectant mothers the same food in preparation for their new litters. This food also decreases fecal matter, because most of it is stored for nutritional value. We will start your new puppy off with the "Royal Canin" Puppy Package, which includes a sample bag of the food. This food is being fed to all of our puppies including the Standard Poodle!
